Dr. Lanre Salami, MBBS, RMT
Dr. Salami is a medical graduate and massage therapist practicing since 1994. Dr. Salami has had a positive influence on the development of orthopaedic application of massage therapy as a complementary modality along with allopathic medicine. He is involved in massage training and curriculum development of some of the massage schools and associations in the province. His background in orthopedic medicine provides a comprehensive approach to soft tissue dysfunction assessment and treatment.
He has been a guest speaker in a variety of non-invasive technique application in chronic pain management, physiology seminar presentations involving soft tissue manipulative techniques, massage management in diabetics, TMJ and other fascial disorders. He has been involved with therapeutic massage training both in and out of the province. He was an active participant in the design and implementation of the first psychometrically validated evaluating exam for Massage training in the province.
In addition, Dr. Salami is currently a senior instructor at Centre for Complementary Health Education, Mount Royal University, Calgary, in massage therapy training and maintains his therapeutic massage clinic in Calgary, Alberta.
Dr. Cheng TCMD, MD (China), PhD, RAc.
Dr. Cheng earned her Bachelor’s Degree in TCM and Western Medicine in 1983 from the Hunan College of TCM, China. She did further study at Tianjin College of TCM, China culminating in 1987 with a Master’s Degree in Medicine and Acupuncture. In 1990, she received her Ph.D in Medicine from the Chengdu College of TCM, China with a specialty in Acupuncture and Chronomedicine.
Dr. Cheng has over 20 years of clinical experience as a physician, herbalist and acupuncturist. She has been a professor at several colleges as well as instructing foreign students in China. She has translated several publications and is a published author of several TCM works. She is currently the Director of the BodyMind Synergy Health Centre, a member of several professional association boards and Vice-President for the Alberta Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctors.
Dr. Cheng is an active participant in the process of regulating TCM in Alberta. She also teaches courses on TCM to medical professionals and offers public education workshops on TCM. In September 2004, her long-time dream of opening a school of TCM was realized with the opening of CITCM, which she is proud to be the director of.
Dr. Juan “Ivy” Wang, TCMD, MSc.TCM, R.Ac.
Dr. Wang received her Master’s Degree of TCM from the Chengdu University of TCM in China. Dr. Wang has specialized in using acupuncture and moxibustion to treat gynecological and pain syndrome such as infertility, premature ovarian failure, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrheal, PMS, menopause, arthritis, herniated discs and frozen shoulder.
She has followed two very famous specialists for a period of two years in China. One is a professor in gynecology and the other, a specialist in using the ancient traditional acupuncture needling methods to treat stubborn diseases.
Laureen Macintosh, DTCM, RAc., RMT
Laureen graduated as a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2014, and is also a Registered Acupuncturist. She has a Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics from Guelph University. She is also a Registered Massage Therapist with 2200 hours of training and has been in practice since 2003.
A firm believer in lifelong education, Laureen has supplemented her massage education with specialized courses in reflexology (both Western and Thai styles), Shiatsu and cupping therapy.
Amber Bridges, RMT
Amber Bridges has over 17 years of experience in a clinical environment as a registered massage therapist. She completed her training in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the Professional Institute of Massage Therapy. Amber is a member of the NHPC and is involved in their massage training and curriculum development programs. Amber strives on learning new techniques and medical knowledge on a continual basis. She has taken courses of interest such as equine/animal massage, PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) techniques, pre/post cancer techniques, and thai massage. She also has extensive training in whiplash and upper extremity musculature disorders and nerve mobilization.
Amber Bridges currently runs her own practice at the Massage Centre in NE Calgary. In her spare time, she enjoys keeping herself healthy by working out regularly, running and playing ringette where she volunteers as Vice President of the Women’s Ringette Association Board. She also enjoys cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Ricardo Julio Guerrero, RMT
Ricardo has been providing Massage Therapy Services since 1990, Ricardo graduated from Mount Royal College Massage Therapy Program in 2001. Ricardo has taught and managed several world-renowned spas, hospitals, and private clinics. Teaching and creating modalities popular in demanding health spas, to more technical techniques to do with body mechanics and the treatment of muscular lesions.
Ricardo is well trained and knowledgeable in many massage techniques, including structural body mechanics, myofascial, deep tissue and sports massage therapy. Ricardo’s ambition and drive has led him to become a conference speaker, massage instructor, and author. He is author of the book. “Myths &Truths of Massage Physical Therapy” and created his own massage technique called Masophysics; a pain free, deep and simple technique that combines the science of structural body mechanics of deep tissue and myofascial manipulations.

His philosophy on teaching massage therapy at any level is to keep it simple, fun and pain free!
Dr. Romana Iqbal, MD (Pakistan)
Dr. Romana Iqbal earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree (M.B.B.S) in 1998 from Fatima Jinnah Medical College Lahore, Pakistan. She further did her post graduation in the specialty of Obstetrics & Gynecology after four years of residency training. She attained her member ship degree in 2005 ,(MCPS) and In 2009 she attained her fellowship degree (FCPS) from the College of Physician and Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP).
Dr. Iqbal has over 12 years of clinical and teaching experience. She worked as senior registrar in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Federal Government Polyclinic Post graduate Medical Institute Islamabad, Pakistan. During her job at postgraduate institute she also attained experience in teaching postgraduate, undergraduate and paramedical students. To her credit she has many publications and she was also member of many case study programs conducted in the department. Publication for her fellowship degree was “complications during second stage of labour in adolescent pregnancy”.
During her career she was involved in facilitating and conducting seminars and workshops with JICA, WHO and USAID in the rural and urban areas of Islamabad and AJK, Pakistan.
Shawn deGreeve, MA Marketing, B. Mgt. Degree
Shawn has years of business experience from running a family business to developing Marketing and Communication strategies. Shawn is an expert in developing niche BRANDING for small and medium business and developing the processes to be successful. He currently collaborates with businesses to innovate and improve cash flows. He enjoys spending quality time with his family and likes travel and continuous learning. Shawn’s credentials include BA Marketing, B. Mgt. Degree with a social responsibility minor, and is a MBA candidate.
Amber Romaniuk, R.H.N. Holistic Nutritionist, Author & Public Speaker
Amber Romaniuk, founder of Nourish This Life, Calgary, Alberta, is an R.H.N. Holistic Nutritionist graduate from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.
She offers a unique edge of understanding for supporting individualized plans and nutritional coaching to clients suffering from a spectrum of imbalances including: digestive, hormonal and adrenal imbalances, inflammation, stress, enzyme deficiency, food allergy/sensitivity and blood sugar imbalances.
She also has a deep personal awareness of emotional, compulsive, and binge eating as well as an incredible depth of knowledge regarding the connection between the physical and psychological imbalances these have on the body, mind and soul.
Amber is a public speaker to educate those interested on how to take the steps involved to shift to a healthier lifestyle.
Dr. Philip Nelson, DC
Originally from the East Coast, Dr. Phil Nelson grew up in the quiet city of Saint John, New Brunswick. He graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology degree, where he was also the varsity basketball trainer. Furthering his education, Dr. Phil graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto before chasing the mountains and arriving in Calgary, Alberta.
Dr. Phil has always been passionate about health and optimal performance in daily living. He is a firm believer that “pre-habilitation”, proper biomechanics, eating well and a healthy mind will lead to a happier, healthier life.
Parveen Inayat, MD (Pakistan)
Dr. Parveen Inayat graduated from King Edward Medical University, Lahore, Pakistan with a bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery. After doing her US accreditation, she spent many successful years of family practice with special interest in diagnostic imaging and internal medicine. Settled in the beautiful city of Calgary, Parveen has been engaged in teaching allied health care programs like medical office assistants, unit clerks, massage therapy and pharmacy technicians for more than a decade.
In 2003, Parveen completed a diploma program in business computers and office accounting. She is certified in MS Word 2007 and 2010 and very proficient in all other office applications. In 2011, she completed a one-year program in Anatomy & Physiology from the University of Athabasca.
Dr. Marja Verhoef, PhD
Dr. Marja Verhoef is professor and Canada Research Chair in Complementary Medicine in the Department of Community Health Sciences at the University of Calgary. She has developed a strong research program in Complementary Medicine and established a Complementary Medicine Research Group to assist in carrying out her research program.
Dr. Verhoef holds Canada’s only Research Chair in Complementary Medicine at the University of Calgary. She has been a driving force behind the establishment of several Canadian networks promoting and enabling partnerships among those interested in complementary, alternative and integrative medicine. The most well known of these is the IN-CAM network, a virtual organization sparking collaboration among researchers and practitioners in Canada, North America and internationally. She has been a tireless advocate of appropriate research methods for the often multi faceted approaches that fall under the umbrella of complementary and alternative medicine. She has inspired and mentored many in the research of complementary and alternative medicine.
She is Co-Chair of the Canadian Interdisciplinary Network for CAM Research and was the first President of the International Society of Complementary Medicine Research.
It is essential for physicians in training to be aware of patients use of CAM and to be prepared to discuss this with them. Understanding and familiarity may be conducive to fostering positive relationships with CAM practitioners.
The curriculum is meant to help students develop the attitude, skills and knowledge necessary to discuss CAM and NHPs with patients in an informed and non-judgmental manner.
Dr. Craig Young, DDS
Craig is a general dentist with a special interest in integrated healthcare, chronic pain, post trauma rehabilitation, headache, sleep disordered breathing, and total health and wellness.
Craig graduated from the University of Alberta Dental program in 1987, and from the University of Alberta Medical Acupuncture program in 1997. He is a founding member of the American Academy of Oral and Systemic Health, a member of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, a member of the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and a member of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, of which he is currently working on his fellowship.
Craig is a member and past president of the Calgary and District Gnathological Society, and served on the board of the Calgary and District Dental Society. Currently he is a councilor on the council of the Alberta Dental Association and College. He also currently serves on the Disciplines committee of the Alberta Dental Association and College.
Dr. Neetash Patel DC BSc
Dr. Patel has worked his way across the globe and has found his way back home to Calgary in 2002. Combining his dedication to health, his love for travel and passion for life, he brings a unique and dynamic perspective to helping you achieve your health goals.
Eliminating pain, restoring function and putting people back in control & maintaining their health are the mainstays of his treatment approach. Dr. Patel believes in learning as many things in life as possible and using them to their best advantage. Armed with knowledge from Chiropractic, Active Release, Acupuncture, nutrition, physiotherapy, rehabilitation, exercise & personal interests, Dr. Patel helps get his patients actively involved in life and their own health.
A firm believer in living life by example, Dr. Patel has gained a reputation as a gym rat, kitchen guru and as someone who really gets the most out of life. Over the years, he has enthusiastically participated in adventure racing, triathlons and distance running completing a variety of distances in the racing world, including Ironman and 50km ultra runs. He donates his time and skill to many charitable events as community and world development is a priority in his life. Dr. Patel regularly contributes health & lifestyle articles for national magazines, started his own cooking school 2005 and is a published cookbook author & entrepreneur.
A definite multi-tasker, Dr. Patel is passionate about education, in all aspects of life. He is currently on extended leave from post-secondary academic lecturing & teaches sustainable cooking & life skills to young, new parents. Dr. Patel is also an advisory board member for the Canadian Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the TriCOPS charitable foundation.
Dr. Patel believes in the simply philosophy that every day is another chance to be smarter, healthier, stronger and happier.
Lars Gustafsson, Nutritionist, Entrepreneur, Founder-BodyMind Institute (CITCM Academic Advisor)
Renowned for his compassionate and effective holistic coaching, and after years of demand, Lars created The BodyMind Nutrition Certification Program, and took his passion for comprehensive learning to an entirely new level in 2009, when he founded The BodyMind Institute, a virtual learning platform presenting the world’s leaders in natural health.

Karen McInnis, BSc, RAc, DTCM
Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Calgary in 1985. She pursued her desire to work in healthcare and was awarded her diploma in Respiratory Therapy in 1990, receiving the Trudell Award for outstanding academic performance. In 2002, she completed her training in Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture in Calgary, graduating at the top of her class. Her love of travel and desire to elevate her knowledge led her to complete advanced training in Hangzhou, China.
In her work as a Doctor of Acupuncture and as a Respiratory Therapist, Karen has accumulated over 20 years of clinical experience. She is able to integrate both western and eastern medical knowledge in her treatments. Since 2006, she has specialized in treating allergies using NAET (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Techniques) which incorporates Chinese Medicine, Western nutrition and kinesiology to treat allergy related conditions. Through advanced training and her experience, Karen has become one of the top specialists in this field in Western Canada.
