Choosing a rewarding career is one of the most important decisions in our life. With many options available, we want to make sure we make the right choice and choose a career that provides a great potential earning and job satisfaction, and at the same time it is also a great fit to other lifestyle commitments. If you are considering to become a RMT, here are some of the great reasons why you should choose massage therapy as a career.
As a massage therapist you will practice a rewarding career healing others after injury or stress. Whether it is a therapeutic massage to help with pain and recovery or a peaceful relaxation massage to help with stress reduction, you will feel content and rewarded at the end of every day knowing that your skills have created positive impact on your patient’s life.
As both a student and a graduated therapist you will have flexibility in your life! Learning offers a blended learning option. This allows for work and life balance. At CITCM, classes are offered online with only 2 days onsite practical classes per week. Upon graduation you are ready to practice professionally and set your own schedule. You may choose work at a clinic, a spa, or as your own boss making your own hours in a home or mobile based business.
Massage therapists are employed at clinics, spas, and for those who like adventure, you can work at tourist resorts, cruise ships, or you can even choose to build your own practice. Massage therapists have the option to continue to grow by studying other professional healing modalities including acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, herbology and nutrition.
According to Canada Job bank data, massage therapists are in high demand in many provinces. Graduates of CITCM has over 95% employment rate in Alberta since the program started. With the demands so high, many students secure employment during their practicum prior to graduation.
As a Registered Massage Therapist, you will be constantly meeting new people and developing existing patient relationships connecting with them utilizing a practical and hands on approach to practice. Beyond massage you will incorporate other hands-on modalities including cupping, acupoints, guasha tools and meridian massage to improve your patient’s health and treatment experience.
Our program delivers unique Western and Eastern massage techniques integrating a proven orthopedic assessment and treatment protocols. Using the modalities and skills taught during CITCM’s extensive 2200-hour program, CITCM graduates are distinguished RMTs practicing in the field!
