Canadian Branch College of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CBC-CDUTCM)

In 2021, CITCM was appointed as Canadian Branch College of CDUTCM, the first overseas branch college in North America.

CITCM has been collaborating with Chengdu University of TCM (CDUTCM) since 2006 for the bachelor’s degree of Acupuncture/Moxibustion/Tuina program. In 2021, CITCM was appointed as Canadian Branch College of CDUTCM, the first overseas branch college in North America. The partnership allows both institutes to expand more collaborations in degree programs, eLearning and many more!

Under the current partnership, students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Acupuncture/Moxibustion/Tuina may do so by completing a four-year of study at CITCM Double Major program, and a five-month internship at the university hospital in Chengdu University of TCM in the Sichuan province of China.

About Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (CDUTCM)

Founded in 1956 and located in the historical city of Chengdu, CDUTCM is one of the first four universities established to offer post-secondary education of traditional Chinese medicine in China and worldwide. Over the past 65 years, it has always been the leading university in China for Acupuncture/TCM education, research and providing patient care through the university hospitals for the area of Chengdu city, Sichuan province, and national wide. The university has nearly 1900 staff members with approximately 500 professors and associate professors in the different departments:

  • College of Basic Medical Science,
  • College of Clinical Medicine,
  • College of TCM Pharmacy,
  • College of Acupuncture & Moxibustion & Tuina,
  • College of Nursing, and many more.

In TCM/acupuncture research, CDUTCM lays great emphasis on the building of the facilities of laboratories. It owns a key laboratory of the ministry of education, 7 top laboratories of State Administration of TCM, 5 provincial key laboratories, in addition to 13 provincial key courses. An onsite attached hospital of CDUTCM has the highest standard with a national model of TCM that allows students to gain practical experience from experts in the fields, alongside with 7 other affiliated hospitals of CDUTCM.

As one of the first universities granted to enroll overseas students, CDUTCM has been offering education to foreign students for almost 50 years. The information-exchange relationship has been established between CDUTCM and 176 institutions throughout the world, including WTO, American National Library and British Royal Association.

Live and Study in Chengdu City

Chengdu is famous for its great food and home to the giant pandas. It is also a city known for leisure and entertainment. Chengdu residents seem to live a slow pace of life because of its unique laid-back culture that makes it easily a dream place to live. With Chinese’s tea culture originating in Chengdu, the city has the most tea houses in the world.

If you are into art, Chengdu is an excellent place to witness a performance of a traditional Sichuan Opera. The magical face changing in Sichuan opera is a celebrated tradition and part of one of oldest regional opera cultures. This unique performance is practiced almost exclusively in Sichuan and the best masters of the art can be seen in Chengdu.

There are lots of tourist attraction places nearby within the city or outside that can be reached by car or a train, such as: the Leshan Giant Buddha, Wuhou Shrine, Mount Emey, Chengdu Cultural Park and The Sichuan Opera, Jianmen Pass Scenic Route, Mengdingshan Tea Plantation, many monetaries/temples, and much more.
